Family Month

At Cedar Creek, all types of families are accepted and honored. For this reason we do not celebrate mother's day or father's day. Instead we celebrate FAMILY MONTH. From mid-May to mid-June, Cedar Creek celebrates family month. The curriculum centers around families—what a family is, who is in a family, animal families etc. Each child brings in a picture of his/her family and is encouraged to tell the class about who is in the picture. Pets are often included. The pictures are displayed for all to see. It is a celebration of diversity that helps a child see that we are all different and yet we are all alike—and that is a good thing.
